Impact Areas

At Direct Energy, our research and analysis have led us to prioritize climate change and environment, customer service and vulnerable customers as areas of leadership for Direct Energy that can help us be distinctive and deliver competitive advantage.

Climate Change and Environment

We believe that climate change is one of the most significant challenges facing humanity, and that human-induced greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation are key drivers of climate change, along with naturally occurring systems.

We also believe that science unequivocally makes the case for a low-carbon economy, which is why we are playing our part in the transition to a low-carbon economy by reducing carbon emissions while securing future energy supplies as we source, produce and use energy more sensitively and efficiently, while making strategic investments in low-carbon technology.

Customer Service

We believe that to earn and retain customers business requires an understanding of their needs and a commitment to operating with professionalism, integrity and fairness. We will offer our customers the affordable, reliable and competitively priced products and services they want with the guidance they need to ensure safe and responsible use.

Vulnerable customers and energy poverty

We believe that we have a role to play along with government and society to ensure vulnerable customers can access the energy they need and manage their energy costs.

Health and Safety

We believe that the health, safety and security of our employees, customers and others who may be affected by our operations are of paramount importance. We must pursue and maintain an outstanding, interdependent safety culture combined with rigorous management systems that include education, training and monitoring programs for our employees and those who use our products and services.

Employees

We believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace with a culture of trust and respect is the most productive. We can achieve this when employees are empowered and engaged in decision-making. By providing an enriching employee experience with competitive compensation and benefits, training and career development opportunities and support for work/life balance initiatives, we will recruit and retain the right people with the right skills for the right job.

Local impact

We believe that working with the communities in which we live and work to understand and manage the impact of our operations can enhance our credibility with stakeholders. We also believe that long-term partnerships based on trust, respect and open dialogue will help stimulate long-term socioeconomic growth and lead to mutually beneficial relationships between our business and the communities in which we live and work.

Supply chain

We believe that we must collaborate with our business partners, providing and responding to constructive feedback in order to achieve a best practice approach to sustainable management of resources. We will ensure we deal fairly and openly, and respect human rights, health, safety, security, the environment and the interests of our stakeholders.
