The Centrica group’s vision is to create value for our shareholders – and value for our customers – by being the leading integrated energy supplier of energy and related services in the markets we serve. Direct Energy is central to that goal. The market conditions in North America are changing dramatically. Commodity prices are extremely volatile and continue to rise. Competition is fierce. Regulatory climates continue to evolve. But, within these market conditions, we see opportunity. Our strategy for success:

Deepen customer relationships through innovative, total product and service offerings.

In short, we’re going to make life easier for our customers by being a totally integrated energy solutions provider. Our core businesses range from gas exploration and power generation to energy pricing and protection plans to a full line of energy-related services – such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Because our solution is comprehensive and convenient, we attract valuable residential and business customers. We work to deliver beyond their expectations. And we continually tailor products and services to our customers’ needs.

Increase the long-term value of our Upstream and Energy Management business.

Direct Energy does more than deliver gas and power to our customers – we also produce a percentage of what we supply. In Alberta, our natural gas production assets meet 17 percent of customer demand in Canada. We operate three power stations in Texas that meet 31 percent of peak customer demand. We continue to secure gas and power for our customers through our own assets, long-term contracts and short-term trading. This strategy makes us more nimble – so we can better respond to supply and demand and continue to deliver for our customers. It also gives us a greater degree of control.

Concentrate on delivering “Best in Class” performance through our North American operations.

We can deliver greater value to our shareholders by exercising financial discipline and allowing nothing short of “best in class” operational performance. We share processes, knowledge and information across all of our markets to maximize efficiencies. We learn from each other and are better because of it. We, as an organization, are greater than the sum of our parts.
