DAVID CLARKE
Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer for Centrica North America, David has responsibility for all Corporate Finance functions and the Mergers and Acquisition team in Toronto, as well as overall responsibility for financial control and reporting of business performance. David is a member of the Direct Energy Executive Committee.

Before joining CNA, David was the Finance Director for the Centrica Energy Management Group in the UK. This division was responsible for all of the UK and European procurement and trading activities in gas and power for Centrica plc, including operation of the upstream gas assets and power stations.

David has more than 29 years of experience with Centrica plc and its predecessor companies. During his career he has worked in a variety of different business units, including Transco (now demerged as the gas distribution arm) and British Gas (the supplier of gas and electricity in the UK to nearly 20 million customers in the residential market). Prior to starting his career with British Gas, he spent a short period as a university lecturer in Operational Research.

In the early 1990s, David served on the Board of Consumers Gas in the period when British Gas was the majority owner of the Ontario-based utility.

David holds a MA from Peterhouse, Cambridge University as well as a M.Sc. from Sussex University, both in the UK. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, and now serves on their Remuneration Committee as one of two independent members.
