Raising the Roof

Raising the Roof was created in 1997 in response to a growing awareness that homelessness in Canada was a growing concern amongst Canadians and Government. Raising the Roof is a small-but-national organization with an enormous mandate: reduce and prevent homelessness in Canada. It works to achieve this goal by:

• Funding local, grassroots agencies working to alleviate homelessness in their communities;
• Informing Canadians about the true nature and scope of Canada’s homelessness issues today and educating them about preventing homelessness tomorrow; and
• Building partnerships by giving people, corporations and organizations the opportunity to participate in finding solutions.
• It is the third objective that opened the door to what has become a powerful and effective relationship with Direct Energy.
