We strive to be an active and positive contributor in our local communities and encourage our employees to find innovative ways to make a difference.
Direct in the Community
Direct in the Community is Direct Energy Marketing Limited’s corporate philanthropy program. We combine charitable giving with activities designed to encourage our employees to volunteer in their communities and support causes they value.
We focus on supporting national and local charities that provide services related to safe and affordable housing, especially for adults, families, the elderly and the disabled. Each year our employees select a charitable partner. There are three ways for our employees to direct their energy in the community:
Dollars for Doers—Each employee who volunteers in the community may receive a donation of up to $500 for their charity.
Donated Expertise—We encourage employees to use their skills to help charitable groups in their community during work time. This can involve activities like reorganizing a local food bank or teaching a child to read.
Employee Fundraising Events—We work with employees in all of our offices to create and run exciting fundraising events, with proceeds donated to the annual charitable partner.
Raising the Roof
Finding solutions to homelessness is a very worthwhile cause and one Alberta has the power to tackle. By focusing our efforts on a single cause, we feel we can make the most significant impact. And we will not refocus our efforts until all Albertans have a warm, safe place to lay their heads each night.

Our Annual Toque Campaign gives people from all walks of life the opportunity to show their support for solutions to homelessness by purchasing a Raising the Roof toque and wearing it proudly.
Toques are $10 each, with proceeds supporting grassroots community homelessness agencies across Canada, as well as Raising the Roof's public education initiatives.
