Default Customer Frequently Asked Questions

Can you please explain to me who is responsible for what?

As of June 1, 2004, Direct Energy Business Services is the Default Supply provider for customers in the ATCO Electric distributor territory. ATCO Electric will continue to deliver the energy to your door, and Direct Energy Business Services (Default Supplier) will buy the energy on your behalf and send you your monthly energy bill.

I received a letter indicating that the administration rates for receiving Default Supply service are changing on June 1, 2007. Why is this happening?

Direct Energy Business Services will continue to provide customers with the same Default Supply flow-through pool price rates based on the market price for energy. The administration fees are in addition to the flow through pool price rates and are used to cover the costs associated with servicing Default Supply Customers. The changes are reflective of the costs required to provide this service and will be on your July bill (for usage in the month of June)
