Price Block Plan
The Price Block Plan can help you mitigate the market risk of your electricity charges by providing a fixed price for a fixed block of volume. It provides a price hedge against your retailer’s monthly electricity costs for effective cost budgeting.

How it Works:
This financial arrangement involves the exchange of money between your business and ours on a monthly basis for an agreed-upon term. To receive the true benefits of this program, your business continues to purchase physical power from Direct Energy Business Services (Flow Through Product) or another retailer at the flow-through market price determined by the Alberta Power Pool.
It works on a credit or charge basis, which allows for price stabilization and effective cost budgeting. Each month, Direct Energy Business Services reconciles your contracted fixed price against the flow-through market price of the Alberta Electric System Operators (AESO). If the Pool Price is higher than your fixed price, you will receive a cash credit from us. Conversely, you will make a cash payment to us if the price is lower than your fixed price.
Either way, you pay exactly the amount in your contract.

Secure Price Plan
The Secure Price Plan brings stability and predictability to your monthly electricity costs. It is a physical agreement between your business and ours to outline your electricity rates.
We work with your business to predetermine your monthly electricity consumption based on your historical usage. Then we provide a fixed price based on your load profile. This creates stability for effective cost budgeting that will positively impact your bottom line.

Profiled Secure Price Plan
Our Profiled Secure Price Plan helps you budget for future energy consumption. This plan is a physical electricity agreement between your business and Direct Energy Business Services. The Profiled Secure Price Plan is designed specifically for interval meter customers. It allows for stability and predictability to your monthly electricity costs.

- Flexibility to allow for changes in consumption
- Monitored volume on an hour-by-hour basis allowing for customization
How it Works:
The Profiled Secure Price Plan provides businesses that are on an interval meter with a fixed price for a fixed volume of electricity for an agreed upon term. We will work with you to determine your hourly electricity consumption based on the historic annual usage of your business and provide a fixed price for electricity based on your load profile.
We understand that your consumption can vary hour to hour which is why we’ve ensured that there is flexibility for your business in the Profiled Secure Price Plan. Flexibility comes in the form of a predetermined tolerance level which we’ve built into the plan and to which your contracted fixed price is still applicable.

Physical Block Plan
Our Physical Block Plan is for interval meter customers who want a fixed price for a preset volume of electricity per hour. This plan allows you to control the individual size or “block” of consumption you would like to receive at a fixed price.
Benefits & Advantages of the Physical Block Plan:
- Security of having price protection on the electricity consumed
- Freedom of not having electricity consumption restricted by a minimum threshold
- Consumption outside of the “blocked hours” will be charged at pool price
- Ability to choose the block volume for electricity that works best for your business
How it Works:
Your business can secure a fixed price for a predetermined hourly block of electricity. The blocks for base load, peak load and/or off peak load can be purchased for various usage year terms. Your electricity price is fixed over the term of your agreement for your specified electricity load.
Based on your consumption history, you decide which portion of your load to secure and which portion should remain at the Alberta Electric System Operators (AESO) pool price.
At the end of each month, Direct Energy Business Services will reconcile your actual consumption data against your contracted volume. Your business has the opportunity to sell back the electricity not consumed to Direct Energy Business Services with no questions asked. At Direct Energy Business Services, we understand that your electricity consumption can change by month or time of year. The Physical Block Plan for electricity allows for that flexibility.

Flow-Through Plan
Our Flow Through Plan for electricity is designed for companies on interval meters seeking flexibility with their electricity consumption. If you are not already a Direct Energy Business Services customer, this is the perfect opportunity and product to "work with us" as your electricity supplier.

How it Works:
You continue to operate business as usual with your electricity consumption and continue to pay the monthly Alberta Electric System Operators (AESO) pool price.
With a Flow-Through Plan for electricity from Direct Energy Business Services, you can monitor your electricity consumption and costs with the ability to switch to one of our fixed rate plans at any time. If you choose to switch to one of our fixed rate plans, your business can do so without incurring any switch or penalty charges.
