The Rate Albertans Pay For Regulated Natural Gas Fluctuates On A Monthly Basis. Here's Why:

• All regulated Natural Gas retailers in Alberta must adjust their regulated Natural Gas rate monthly, using a formula approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC).
• This formula was used by ATCO Gas and is now being used by Direct Energy Regulated Services.
• Each month's rate reflects expected Natural Gas prices and is based on a normal weather forecast.
• Each month's rate is forecast in advance which means a future adjustment may be required. E.g., if Natural Gas prices are different than forecast or if weather is colder or warmer than normal, the adjustment, up or down, must be included in the next month's rate and be approved by the AUC.
