Some considerations for your water heater:
Type & Size
Your builder will determine the appropriate type and size of water heater. Please ensure your builder has considered:
- Quantity and type of water fixtures
- Peak usage determined by family size and unique homeowner lifestyles
If you require a larger water heater, please consult your Builder Representative before the water heater is delivered to your home. See our current rates.
Upgrading Your Water Heater After Closing Date
You can upgrade your water heater after your closing date; however, charges will apply. If upgrading and the existing venting or piping is not suitable for use by the new "upgraded" water heater being installed, other charges will also apply. In order to avoid any inconvenience or costs associated with an upgrade, please consult with your Builder Representative before the water heater is delivered to your home.
Purchasing Your Water Heater
You can purchase your water heater any time after your home purchase closes. If you purchase the rental water heater within 30 days of receiving your first bill, your first monthly rental charge will be credited to you on the next bill. The tank price declines on a yearly basis as the tank ages. How Billing Works
If your local gas utility is Enbridge Gas Distribution, you will receive a monthly statement from Enbridge that includes your monthly charge for the rental water heater installed in your home. If you local gas utility is another company (e.g., Union Gas), then you will receive a monthly statement that only includes a rental water heater charge. Call the number on your bill for other billing options, including preauthorized payments.
