Businesses Spending LESS than $2,000/month on Electricity

Once you switch, Direct Energy will send you your first bill approximately six to eight weeks after we receive the necessary account information from your local utility. Direct Energy will send out your electricity bill once per month. Use the information below to learn about your payment options and programs.

Payment Options

In-Person Payments (IPP):

You can visit one of our In-Person Payment locations. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for the payment to be reflected on your account. For information on a location near you, call 1-888-IPP-PAYS (1-888-477-7297).

Western Union:

REGULAR PAYMENT—visit a Western Union location. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for the payment to be reflected on your account.

QUICK COLLECT—for a $12.95 fee, you can use the quick collect payment method. Be sure to communicate the following:

Payments sent by mail could take 7 to 10 business days to be reflected on your account.

You may also take advantage of ChoicePay’s convenient automated services. Please allow 48 hours for the payment to be reflected on your account.

Payment Options at Your Bank:

Direct Energy accepts payment through most banks either via the Internet or the telephone. Please contact your bank for more information on these payment options. Please allow 7 to 10 business days for the payment to be reflected on your account.

Home Banking - Online Payment:

When using your personal or business bank account to pay Direct Energy online, please ensure the correct Direct Energy "payee address" is used.

If you have a ten digit account number that begins with a ‘5’ (ex: 5123456789), please use:

Equal Payment Plan

Equal Payment Plan offers you a predictable monthly bill in which you pay approximately the same amount for electric service each month subject to a quarterly adjustment based on actual consumption.

The program is available to any customer whose Direct Energy account has no unpaid balance, regardless of credit history. You are required to have 12 months of actual or estimated usage history on your current premise in order to enroll in the plan. After one full year, Direct Energy will perform an account review to determine whether there is an over- or under-billing on the account based on your actual usage during the previous 12-month period. Direct Energy will credit your account for any over-billed amount and will bill you for any under-billed amount. Additionally, as part of the plan’s annual review process, Direct Energy will recalculate your monthly Equal Payment amount to reflect actual usage from the previous 12-month period.
