We couldn’t have asked for a better day to visit downtown Cincinnati, OH for the second stop of Direct Energy’s Brighten Your Day (BYD) campaign. Last week, on Thursday, September 26, 2013, weather was in the 70’s and sunny as the city’s Fountain Square area was bustling with activity. People were itching to get out of the office to soak up the sun on their lunch breaks.
The Bright Brigade handed out free CFL bulbs and had participants spin a prize wheel to win items such as DE-branded sunglasses (which were definitely needed that day), reusable shopping bags, and gift cards. I estimate the Bright Brigade interacted with at least 800 individuals in two hours!
Two TV stations – Fox and NBC – covered the event. Not only did Direct Energy create buzz for its brand, but the event served as an opportunity to educate people about the difference between us and the incumbent utility gas and electric companies.
Overall, this BYD was an ultimate success. Whose day wouldn’t be brightened by friendly Direct Energy employees donned in neon orange t-shirts handing out free goodies?!
