In the week leading up to Earth Day, we’re working hard to help you save money and make a positive impact on the environment at the same time. Who doesn’t like a win win like that? It was also a very good week for Pennsylvania around here!
We recently volunteered with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, beautifying downtown Pittsburgh with flowers (you know, typical power company stuff). Our Facebook page had the photo on Monday and it started the week off nice and green.
Our blog on Tuesday was all about smarter ways to battle your oldest summertime foes: sunburn and bug bites. From common sense we sometimes forget (wear more clothes!) to new, more natural alternatives (lemon eucalyptus?), there’s a greener way to stay unburned and unbit.
The awesome ideas kept on coming. Facebook brought us Real Simple’s How to Recycle Everything guide, guaranteed to inspire even veteran recyclers. And we put Twitter to work helping Harrisburg, PA. find their Volunteer Citizen of the Year.
We “returned to nature” as the week ended. Facebook gave us a sneak peak of the new Conscious collection from HMS. Only time will tell if it means big change is coming or if it’s just another green fad. Luckily, you can never go wrong with the oldest way to keep your garden healthy and pest-free: companion planting. Check our tweet to read more about old ways getting new attention.
Remember: Earth Day is Sunday. No matter how you celebrate the holiday, have a great weekend!
