Welcome back to the latest edition to the Direct Energy Buzz! We’ve compiled everything we talked about on our Facebook, Blog and Twitter into one convenient location for your viewing pleasure.
We’ve had a relatively quiet hurricane season thus far but Hurricane Irene has certainly changed that this week! We hope we have prepared all of our readers for hurricane season, particularly those on the east coast where Hurricane Irene is expected to make landfall.
In case you need a quick brush up on what to do, check out our posts about:
- Preparing for the Storm

- The Storm’s Aftermath
You can keep up with Hurricane Irene’s progress at the Weather Channel’s website.
Hurricane Irene isn’t the only big phenomena we’ve been posting about recently. This week, the east coast suffered from a 5.9 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter near, Washington D.C.
Children can have an especially difficult time coping with natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes so we posted a few tips for helping children through the quakes aftershock.
Hailing from New York, Megan McKean of New Windsor is the winner of this week’s sweepstakes! She won a $100 gift card to Old Navy. If you didn’t win, don’t worry! We’re giving away a $100 gift card to Target next week and a MacBook Pro plus a $500 American Express gift card the following week. And if you haven’t entered yet, well what are you waiting for? Better hurry and enter now!
So what is on your agenda for this weekend? We posted a link to natural swimming pools on Monday but by Friday, it is still sounding like a great idea!
Thank you, NASA Goodard Photo and Video, for the aerial photo of Hurricane Irene.
