Direct Energy Hosts Texas Exes Event with UT Men’s Basketball Coach SmartTo celebrate Direct Energy being named the Official Retail Electricity Sponsor of Texas Athletics, we hosted an exclusive event at the University Co-op Houston for the local Texas Exes chapter on Tuesday, August 18th, 2015. Guests were welcomed by members of the University of Texas Cheer & Pom squad and were encouraged to shop the store and nosh on mini bags of popcorn prior to the start of the event.

The store quickly transformed into a pep rally when the University of Texas Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Shaka Smart arrived to take photos with alumni and their families.

Craig Way, the Voice of the Longhorns, kicked off the program by introducing Mel Reeves, EVP of Human Resources for Direct Energy and a proud Texas Ex. Reeves highlighted how we are excited to stand behind every student-athlete, coach and staff member of Texas Athletics. Reeves also outlined how we are continuing to work hard to develop innovative tools that help each customer buy less of what we sell like Direct Your Energy and Direct Your Plan.

“We want to get back into the Final Four, which as we all know, takes place in Houston this year!”, said Coach Smart. After the key note address, Coach Smart also answered questions from guests about his coaching style and his inaugural season at the University of Texas.
