Direct Energy employees arrived at the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware earlier this week dressed in superhero capes, and they were accompanied by Delaware State Senators Harris McDowell, Colin Bonini, and Greg Lavelle as well as State Representatives Helene Keeley, Mike Mulrooney, and Debra Heffernan. But everyone was REALLY there to see some well-known caped crusaders.
Spider-Man, Superwoman, Mrs. Incredible, and Michelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles scooped out Direct Energy’s “lightning bolt” flavored ice cream and delivered a corporate gift from Direct Energy to show their support for families with seriously ill or injured children receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals.
The team presented a $10,000 check to Pamela Cornforth, the President and CEO of the Ronald McDonald House, and announced an ongoing partnership that will include cash donations for each Delaware resident who switches their energy supplier to Direct Energy.
The State of Delaware formally named Direct Energy as the “Electric Retail Supplier Exclusively Contracted by the State of Delaware” on June 22nd, 2016 for its 315,000 residents and businesses in the Delmarva territory and for Delaware Electric Cooperative’s 84,000 customers. This is the first such program and designation made in the United States.
Direct Energy has always been very involved in the communities we serve and Delaware will be no exception. Our mission is to make a difference in people’s lives and we could think of no better organization to partner with than the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware.
As part of the program, Direct Energy provided the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware with an initial $10,000 charitable contribution and then pledged an additional $5 donation for each online customer enrollment and $2.50 for each offline customer enrollment throughout the life of the two-year program.
We encourage all Delawareans to go online to check out our plans and see if one makes sense for you and your family. But mostly, we hope this donation and the ones to come will make a difference in the lives of the children and families who come to Ronald McDonald House seeking help and support.
Thanks again to Barbara Loeslin and Pam Cornforth at Ronald McDonald House for helping make this event possible. Direct Energy is proud to be able to help such a deserving organization help provide a home away from home to families. We look forward to a long and lasting relationship with all of you.
