According to the weatherman, fall officially began on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Which means it’s officially time to enjoy all things autumn – pumpkin spice latte, here I come! This season also brings nicer weather throughout most of the country, so let the fall outdoor parties begin! If you are hosting a event any time in the next few months, here are some ideas on how to decorate to ensure your outdoor fall party is perfect.
1) White Twinkle Lights
String a few strands of white twinkle lights between your trees or around the patio to add some pretty ambiance. Chances are you have some strands in the attic for other holidays, so break them out now around your backyard.
2) Pumpkins, Pumpkins, and More Pumpkins
It’s not fall without pumpkins, so an easy way to decorate for a fall party is to place the popular orange gourd thoughtfully around the house. To add some “Oomph” to those pumpkins, spray paint a few of them silver and gold, and then place them around your home or use them as a centerpiece for your tables.
Pro Tip: Use painters tape on the pumpkins to create some neat two-tone designs.
3) Fall Leaves
Since leaves are starting to fall, gather them up and place them around the table to accent a centerpiece. To match the painted pumpkins, spray paint some leaves with the gold or silver spray paint as well.
Pro Tip: The leaves can also be used as place cards if you are having a sit-down dinner. Spray paint the leaves and then write names of each of your guests on the sprayed leaves.
4) Fall Floral Arrangements
Floral arrangements are perfect accents to any party, so incorporate fall flowers into the arrangements are key. Concentrate on flowers with yellow, orange, and red hues. We recommend using sunflowers, chrysanthemums, and roses.
5) Fall-Colored Candles
Candles are another great way to add a soft and warm ambiance to your party. Mix and match varying sizes of fall colored candles (yellow, orange, and reds) and place around the house.
Pro Tip: When using candles, make sure they are non-scented candles, so your home and guests aren’t overwhelmed with the different competing scents.
6) Paper Lanterns
Hang paper lanterns in a variety of fall tones and shades throughout your backyard. This is an easy way to add some flair without having to invest too much in decorations. The lanterns can be purchased at many common arts and crafts stores, or if you have the time (and patience), you can make them yourself.
Pro Tip: If you have any landscape lighting, hang the lanterns around the lighting, which really make them stand out.
