How it works
Direct Energy Power-To-Go® eliminates the monthly bill you typically recieve at the end of the month and instead we send you daily notifications of your current account usage and remaining account balance.
An Advanced Meter is required to enroll with Direct Energy Power-To-Go®
An Advanced Meter, also known as a Smart Meter, reads your usage in more detail than a conventional meter. The Advanced Meter communicates usage information via radio frequency back to the local utility for monitoring and billing purposes, called telemeter, so your meter does not need to physically be read by a technician.
In addition, you must have the ability to receive an email or a text message alerting you to add money to your account.

As you use electricity, your prepaid account balance decreases. When you have about 3-7 days of electricity left, we'll send you a text message or an email.
We will remind you of your account balance until you make a payment and add money to your account.
