Who doesn’t like the idea of a happy neighborhood? It’s an idyllic paradise straight out of Leave It to Beaver, Home Improvement, or Norman Rockwell. Children playing in front yards, folks sharing cups of sugar as they chatter across fences, and people generally caring about the lives of the people around them.
National Good Neighbor Day is a chance to take those dreams and make them a reality. Celebrated this year on September 28th (while occasionally on the 4th Sunday of September), it’s a time set aside to appreciate the folks living in our neighborhoods as a way to recognize that life can be a whole lot better when we choose to work together and get along as a community.
Here at Direct Energy, we take those values to heart. We simply wouldn’t be here without you, and we believe in helping you #LiveBrighter every single day – not just on National Good Neighbor Day.
Through our Neighbor to Neighbor Program, we work in conjunction with the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program to deliver up to $600 a year to eligible low-income customers. We understand that many of our friends, customers, and neighbors occasionally need assistance paying their electricity bills, and we want to ensure you get the help when you need it most. Check out DirectEnergy.com/WeCare to learn more.
In 2014, we teamed up with ThermostatTexas.com to provide and install programmable thermostats to over 1,700 Texans in low-income areas of the Lone Star State. And in 2015, we brought relief from the intense Texas summer heat to over 50 senior citizens in the greater Houston area in the form of portable air conditioner units.
And we’re always on the lookout for new ways to get involved in our neighborhoods as a good neighbor. You can learn more about our activities in the communities we serve at DirectEnergy.com/About/Community and DirectEnergy.com/About/Charity-Giving.
We hope you get involved in your neighborhood on National Good Neighbor Day. And you can be a great online neighbor by engaging in one (or several) of our social media communities!
