Investing in people and charities doing great work in the communities we serve is a foundational aspect of who Direct Energy is as a company.
This is why we have partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH)! For more than 30 years, this amazing network of 170 hospitals across the US and Canada has raised money and built awareness for helping and healing hurting children in need. This includes gathering resources, conducting important research, and covering the medical bills for families in need of assistance.
Our company-owned locations and franchise locations volunteered hundreds of hours in support of CMNH hospitals in their respective service areas, raising the highest average donation, per location, of any new partner in 2014.
In December 2015 , we made a $5 million commitment to Texas Children’s Hospital as part of the Promise Campaign. The gift will be used to help expand Texas Children’s Heart Center in order to serve more children in the Houston community, the state of Texas and across the nation. Direct Energy’s commitment is the largest corporate gift ever made to a Texas Children’s campaign priority.
“Our mission is to make a difference in people’s lives. This donation to local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, will be making a difference in the lives of children and families in the communities we serve. I am proud of our employees for the passion they put into this program,” said Badar Khan, President and CEO of Direct Energy.
We extended our commitment into 2016 with thousands of hours of volunteer activity designed to brighten the lives of the children receiving life-giving care at CMNH facilities across the country. This includes 200 Cardiac Huggy Pillows, 300 teddy bears and 400 Valentine’s Day Gift Bags to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX; 75 boxes of stuffed animals and toys to All Children’s Hospital in Sarasota, FL; 960 coloring books and games to Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ; and 150 teddy bears to Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT. Even more, Direct Energy employees dressed as super heroes to deliver smiles and treats at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL.
Yet, the donation and volunteer hours pale in comparison to the hard work the doctors, nurses, and administrators of the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have been doing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year since 1983.
