Direct Energy Sponsors the 13th Annual Health, Fun & Fitness Fair in Chicago

Direct Energy sponsored the 13th Annual Health, Fun & Fitness Fair held on August 6, 2016 at Illinois Institute of Technology on the south side of Chicago. The annual event hosted by Illinois State Senator Mattie Hunter helps the community prepare for the upcoming school year with on-site vaccinations, interactive games, and a healthy lunch.

Direct Energy was well represented by (L to R) Melissa Hand, Cynthia O’Rourke, and Teresa Ringenbach!

Direct Energy’s booth featured a prize wheel that allowed attendees to spin to win branded items such as water bottles, pedometers, reusable grocery totes, and flashlights. Direct Energy also hosted a raffle for a Kindle Fire.

Representatives of the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago were also present, bringing a transport unit to the fair to give kids a tour of a working ambulance.

Other activities included a drum circle sponsored by a local music school, interactive line dance lessons, inflatables, and vaccinations and physicals from the St. Bernard Hospital mobile unit.

But our favorite bit of entertainment at this event came courtesy of the Jesse White Tumblers, as they wowed the audience with a variety of acrobatic routines. Jesse White is the Illinois Secretary of State and started the group as a positive alternative for inner-city youth. Team members are required to stay away from gangs, drugs, alcohol, and maintain  at least a “C” average in school.
