March is a such a great month with March Madness and even better it marks the beginning of spring. And with spring in the air, it may motivate consumers to do some shopping. Though it may feel like a great time to shop, check out the items below that should not be purchased during the month of March as they are least likely to be discounted this month.

Spring Apparel. Though shoppers may feel it’s the perfect time to start buying new and colorful spring clothes, in reality it’s one of the worst in terms of deals. It’s best to wait until well into a season to find the best deals on that particular season’s apparel. According to Dealnews.com, to find the truly best deals on seasonal apparel, shoppers should wait about two to three months into a season.

Lingerie. While it would make sense for lingerie to be discounted after the romantic Valentine’s Day to clear out inventory, it turns out that retailers are not discounting those items in March. To take advantage of big discounts hold off on purchases until June or July. June is when Victoria’s Secret’s Semi-Annual Sale happens and most lingerie retailers seem to follow the discount trend.

Gym Memberships. The moment we see a hint of nice weather it seems to attract people outside. We even start exercising outside too, which makes the need for a gym membership a little less important. While warmer weather is a big reason behind gyms discounting their memberships, March still a few months early for those discounts. To see real discounts, wait a few more months when the warm weather is more consistent.

Outdoor Furniture. Retailers are gearing up for the big spring and gardening seasons, so they aren’t motivated to discount outdoor furniture for the next few months. To find big deals, wait until the end of the summer to make the purchase.
