How do I get a New Occupancy Statement (NOS) form?

You might need a New Occupancy Statement (NOS) form if your new premise has a Switch Hold. A Switch Hold is placed on a premise by a Retail Energy Provider (REP) (with customer's consent) for an outstanding bill or by the Transmission and Distribution Service Provider (TDSP, or utility company) due to meter tampering. In the event of a Switch Hold, a New Occupancy Statement is part of the documentation you need to provide as proof that you are the new occupant on the premise and are not associated with the previous occupant.

If there is a Switch Hold issue during your enrollment process, it is possible the previous occupant left without fulfilling outstanding debt. To have a switch hold removed, follow these steps:

  1. Download a New Occupant Statement (NOS).
  2. Attach one of the following documents:
    • A copy of a signed lease agreement (in its entirety) in your name
    • A notarized Affidavit of Landlord (download a blank template here)
    • Closing documents in your name for purchase of the property
    • An electric bill in your name dated within the last two months from a different service address
  3. Send us your documents using one of the following methods:
    • Email to Enrollment.Exceptions@DirectEnergy.com. We highly recommend e-mail for faster processing.
    • Fax to 1-866-814-3021.
    • Mail to Enrollment Exceptions, 6502 South Yale Avenue #300, Tulsa, OK 74136. Please allow up to 5 additional business days for us to receive your documents by mail.
