Rated 2 out of 5 by from Discouraged I keep my AC set at 80 degrees during the week. I am gone most of the day but when I do come home, it remains at 80 degrees and it is only lowered during the Free Weekends. I wait until the clock says 6:05 before adjusting as I have experienced that some clocks, phones, watches etc are off by a minute or so. I do have touch lights that run on batteries I use while at home, in the evenings, so my bill is constantly higher each month. Don't understand this. Plus, I use a propane grill to cook during the week, to save on electricity. Also, when I go to pay my bill BEFORE the due date, it tells me to call the toll free number. What is the purpose of paying online if I have to pay via phone. I can't do this at work as I am on work time. I get an email to renew but I am seriously looking at other options. I currently pay around 9.7 cents and the renew is about 11 cents with free weekends. That is not the locked in rate I was promised 2 years ago.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great plan, customer service not much help I’ve enjoyed having free weekends and not having to cringe when getting my electric bill. However, now that it is time to renew my contract, Direct Energy wants to increase my rate by 3 cents per kWh. The only thing they offered to keep my business was a one time bill credit and the guy I spoke to sounded like he was eating as he was talking. I guess I’ll have to shop around and see what else is available.

I have referred 2 friends and earned $150 in bill credit back. I have moved 3 times and switching was effortless. You couldn't pay me to leave them. Best kept secret in Texas I tell you

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great plan! I'm happy that I decided to get this plan, it's made a tremendous difference in my bill. The only thing I wish were more clearer is the time it goes from. For example Friday's from 5 to Sunday's to 5, it's just not very clear. But the plan itself I give a 10.

My only complaint is when you have to change the date just a few days later when pay day just doesn't match up, you get charged 5% of your next bill on your next bill for it......but that is the only issue we have had with this company! Just a great company over all!(:

Weekends are when I'm home the most, since I work during the week. During the weekends on the free weekends plan - is there a max usage for it to be free?

Good Morning! We do not have any minimum or maximum usage requirements for our rate plans. Any usage that would be used during the designated free period, would be free, regardless of how much is consumed. Thank you! -Kate

Do you guys charge an electricity connection fee per kilowatt?

Wonderful question! We don't really charge a connection fee in regards to setting up a new meter at a property. That kind of charge would come from your Transmission Distribution Utility, or TDU, if they have to install a new meter. If you enroll with us, there might be a deposit based on the results of the commodity-based soft credit check that is performed, but it's all dependent on the results!
