Direct Energy AC/Heat Protect, provided by Allied Warranty, safeguards you against the impact of repair costs for your air conditioning and heating systems and provides you with added peace of mind. Plus, you can cancel at any time for no penalty.

How does an AC/Heat Protection Plan work?

You'll receive up to a total of $500 per claim, with up to $5,000 in annual coverage, AND two discounted multi-point tune-ups on up to two systems in your home.

Any needed service will be provided by a licensed, insured background-checked technician. A $60 service fee applies for each claim, including HVAC tune-ups.

How Do I Sign Up For Service?

These protection plans offer you peace of mind for a low monthly fee, conveniently added to your Direct Energy bill.

Simply add a protection plan to your cart at checkout. Already a customer? You can find protection plans in your Online Account Manager under "Additional Services."


Once your protection plan is added to your account, you will have 30 days to review Allied Warranty's materials before the contract effective date. If you call and cancel during this review period, you will not be billed.

AC/Heat Protection Plans FAQs

This information will be in your welcome letter. You can submit a request electronically at or you can call 1-866-791-1200 to speak with the Allied Warranty Claim Service Center. When you submit a request, a team member will contact you on or before the next business day to discuss next steps.

Allied Warranty's service department will review the request to ensure it is complete, the request is then sent to a vendor. The vendor will contact the customer to schedule an appointment. The tech will arrive at the customer's home 24-48 hours after the claim is filed. At the appointment, they will diagnose the failure and call it in to Allied for approval. Allied's service department will review the coverage and approve/deny. Vendor will repair failure; if repair is not possible, Allied will send customer check.

Yes, Direct Energy customers can transfer both their electric service and their AC/Heat Protect program with just one call to Direct Energy.

Direct Energy $500 AC/Heat Protect provides you with $500 per individual service claim per unit with a total annual coverage of $5,000 for all claims up to two ac and heating units. A $60 service fee applies for each Direct Energy $500 AC/Heat Protect visit, including the HVAC tune-ups. Direct Energy $500 AC/Heat Protect is/are provided solely by Allied Warranty. By agreeing, you authorize your Direct Energy account information to be provided to Allied Warranty for enrollment on this product. You'll receive Allied Warranty's toll-free number, product details, terms and conditions for covered items, and your contract effective date, which is when your coverage begins for Direct Energy $500 AC/Heat Protect. You'll have 30 days after your enrollment is processed to review Allied Warranty's materials before the contract effective date. If you call and cancel during your review period you will not be billed for the product[s]. If you don't call to cancel the product[s] before the contract effective date, your coverage will begin automatically and you agree that the $9.99 for Direct Energy $500 AC/Heat Protect can be included on your Direct Energy monthly bill. If you change electricity providers, you must pay your final bill for electricity in full to keep this product and your coverage will continue until you cancel the product. You may cancel Direct Energy $500 AC/Heat Protect without penalty by calling Direct Energy at 1-888-305-3828.
