At Direct Energy, we’re all about supporting the customers and communities we serve. For customers facing financial hardship, we’re providing information on agencies that can help with electricity bill payments.

Although Direct Energy doesn’t provide financial assistance directly, we want to ensure that our customers know their options. You may qualify for Community Assistance and Relief for Energy bills (CARE) or funding from the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP).

There are a few ways to apply for electricity bill assistance:

  • Find an agency in your county by searching the list below.
  • Visit 211texas.org to find agencies in your area.
  • Call 2-1-1 or 1-877-541-7905 and ask the operator to connect you with an agency in your community.

Please note:

  • Our participating agencies do their best to assist eligible customers as quickly as possible, but sometimes there are delays because of high demand.
  • Participating agencies decide which customers are eligible, and assistance may not fully cover your electricity bill.
  • The requirements for each agency vary and you may have to provide proof of need, like your last electricity bill and a disconnection notice. If necessary, you can find your bill in your online account.
