  • How do I switch plans with Direct Energy?

    If you are on a variable-rate no-contract plan, you can switch to a fixed-rate plan with Direct Energy online quite easily:

    • Log into your Online Account Manger with your User Name and Password
    • Hover over the "Account Management" icon in the top navigation menu and click the "Switch to a Fixed Plan" link
    • You will be presented with a range of plan options and the current rates for those plans in your area
    • Choose the plan you like and follow the instructions for renewing

    If you are not able to process the switch online, do not see the "Switch to a Fixed Plan" link, or cannot select the plan option you would prefer, you will need to call Customer Service at 1-888-305-3828 so that a representative can assist you.

  • Can I renew with the same rate I have now?

    Unfortunately, as rates are subject to change according to energy market demand, you are most likely not able to renew your plan with the same rate you have been paying. You are able to renew at the current rates we have posted for our plans.

    Please be advised that, if you are trying to renew your plan and you are doing so in advance of your estimated contract expiration date, you can log into your Direct Energy Online Account Manager at a later date to see if the rates have changed to something more favorable. Since rates are subject to energy market demand, rates can increase or decrease as you approach your fixed-rate plan contract expiration date, so if you see a rate you like, be sure to lock in that rate by renewing online or by calling Customer Service at...

  • How do I renew my plan with Direct Energy?

    You can renew your existing Direct Energy service online quite easily. This can be done up to 60 days before your fixed-rate plan contract is set to expire. Direct Energy will contact you by mail, e-mail, and/or Online Account Manager messaging when you are eligible for renewal.

    To renew:

    • Log into your Direct Energy Online Account Manager with your User Name and Password.
    • Hover over the "Account Management" icon in the top navigation bard? and click the Renew link.
    • You will be presented with a range of plan options and the current rates for those plans in your area. You will be able to view information for the plans available to you to learn more about each plan.
    • When you find the plan you like, click the "Renew" link and follow the instructions.

    Please be advised that you are not renewing with your current rate and plan. You are renewing your service agreement with Direct Energy, while choosing a new plan and rate. You can renew with your current plan, but that rate most likely has changed, due to energy market demand.

  • How do I know when it's time to renew my plan?

    Direct Energy contacts customers on a fixed-rate contract plan with plan renewal information via e-mail, phone call, and traditional paper mail beginning 60 days in advance of your estimated contract expiration date.

    In general, customers on a fixed-rate plan can renew their plan up to 60 days in advance of their estimated contract expiration date. You can learn this date by logging into your Online Account Manager with your User Name and Password. Once you have logged in, hover over the "Account Management" tab in the top navigation bar and click "Plan and Account Management." Then, scroll to the bottom of the page to view the field marked "Estimated Contract End Date." This date can be seen on the second page of your Direct Energy bill.

    If you do not see a date available in the area indicated, this means you are on a variable-rate no-contract plan, and you do not have a contract expiration...
