How to Install Direct Energy Mobile Wallet

The Direct Energy Mobile Wallet is a seamless mobile billing experience that you can add to your Google Pay or Apple Wallet app. Add your energy bill in seconds and start paying your bills with just one tap, wherever you are. With this free service, you have a quick all-access pass to your bill and your Direct Energy account in the palm of your hand.

Downloading the Direct Energy Mobile wallet is easy. From your mobile device, you can download it straight from the email you received, inviting you to use the Direct Energy Mobile Wallet. You can also download your Mobile Wallet by following these steps for your device. After you download your Mobile Wallet, it will appear as a "pass" on your Apple Wallet or Google Pay app.

  1. Click the "Add to Apple Wallet" button above.
  2. On the next page, enter your account number and phone number. Make sure you enter the phone number that is associated with your Direct Energy account.
  3. You will automatically be taken to your Apple wallet app, where you will see your Direct Energy pass. Click "Add" to add your bill to your Apple Wallet app.

  3. You will automatically be taken to a Google Pay page, where you will see your Direct Energy pass. Click "Save" to add your bill to your Google Pay app.

  2. A page will open in a new tab where you'll enter your account number and phone number. Make sure you enter the phone number that is associated with your Direct Energy account.
  3. You will automatically be taken to another page to send the Direct Energy pass to your device.
  4. If you have an Apple device, you will automatically be taken to a page containing options to either scan a QR code on your Apple device or send the Direct Energy Mobile Wallet link to your email or through SMS message. If you send yourself the link, open the link on your Apple device. Both the QR code and the link will take you to your Apple Wallet app, where you will see your Direct Energy pass. Click "add" to add your bill to your Apple Wallet app.

    If you have an Android device, you will automatically be taken to a Google Pay page, where you will see your Direct Energy pass. Click "Save" to add your bill to your Google Pay app.

How is this different from my Direct Energy app?

Depending on your device, the Direct Energy Mobile Wallet operates through your existing mobile wallet app - Google Pay or Apple Wallet. The Direct Energy Mobile Wallet gives you quick access to your bill and billing preferences. You can also access your account or our app from your Mobile Wallet.

Where on my phone can I access my Direct Energy Mobile Wallet?

There are a couple of ways you can access your Direct Energy Mobile Wallet:

  1. Click your phone's wallet or payment app. Your Direct Energy bill will appear with your other saved bills and payment methods.
  2. Access your Mobile Wallet when you receive billing reminders.
How do I use the Direct Energy Mobile Wallet features?

On an Apple device:

  1. Open your wallet app
  2. Click your Direct Energy bill
  3. Click the button at the bottom right of your card to open a list of options

On an Android:

  1. Open your Google Pay app
  2. Click "Passes" at the bottom of the screen
  3. Click on the Direct Energy card and scroll down to see a list of options.
What notifications do I receive?

We will remind you about your payment due date, let you know when we've received your payment and tell you that your new bill has arrived. You can manage your notifications to choose how and when you want to be notified.

Will notifications beep or buzz my phone?

No, we will simply light up your screen with the notifications you have enabled.

Can I opt-out of notifications?

Yes. On Apple Wallet, you can flip the Automatic Updates switch on the action screen or tap Remove Pass to stop notifications.

On Google Pay, you can access the settings within the app to turn off notifications from us or you can remove the Direct Energy card from Google Pay.

Do I have to add the Direct Energy Mobile Wallet to my wallet app every billing cycle?

Nope, enroll once and we'll automatically update your Wallet as you pay or receive a new bill from us.

Is this secure? How?

Yes, Apple and Google have built secure mechanisms for us (and only us) to update the card in your wallet. Further, the security built into your smartphone and the wallet applications ensure that your information remains yours alone.

Can I pay using the credit card saved in Apple Pay/Google Pay to pay my bill?

No, Apple and Google do not currently support in-wallet bill payments. However, you can save payment methods to your Direct Energy account for easy payment from your Mobile Wallet.

Will this service automatically pay my bill from my card saved in Apple Pay/Google Pay?

No, Apple and Google do not currently support in-wallet bill payments. However, you can set up Auto Pay on your Direct Energy account through your Mobile Wallet.

Can I sign up for AutoPay with Direct Energy Mobile Wallet?

Yes! Just click into your Mobile Wallet card and scroll down to "Manage/Setup Auto Pay." We will send you a 3-day reminder before withdrawing your payment.

Do I have to turn off paper invoicing to participate?

When you enroll with Direct Energy Mobile Wallet, you will automatically be enrolled onto paperless billing. You can also view a copy of your bill through the links in your Wallet. If you decide you want to receive paper invoices, you can change your billing preferences without affecting your enrollment in Mobile Wallet.
