What kind of energy plan is right for you?

In Fort Worth, energy choice means you have more plan options to choose from. We have a little something for everyone, so finding what you need is easy. Here are a few plan types you might encounter:

Fixed-rate plans

With a fixed-rate plan, you’ll pay the same rate every month for the duration of your contract. That means more predictable monthly bills and long-term price stability.

Renewable energy plans

Doing good for the planet can be as simple as choosing a renewable energy plan. These plans feature electricity attributable to renewable sources like wind and solar. Renewable energy plans and sustainable energy sources can help contribute to a cleaner and greener future for all.

Variable-rate plans

Are you craving more flexibility? With a variable-rate plan, the price you pay for electricity can go up or down from month to month. This plan type means you don’t have a long-term contract and can switch plans at any time without penalty.

Plans for renters

Renter-friendly electricity plans may offer a variety of term length options, fixed rates and same-day service. So whether you're renting an apartment, a condo or a house, you'll be able to find a plan that fits your unique needs.

Direct Energy and your utility work together to provide electricity service for your specific area. Direct Energy is a retail electricity provider, and you can shop for your own electricity plan with providers like us to find the right rate and plan for you. Your local utility is only responsible for delivering electricity to your home, reading your electricity meter, and maintaining the poles and wires that deliver electricity.

In the event of a power outage, contact your local utility company. Their contact information is typically found on your electricity bill.

Yes! In select markets, customers can choose renewable energy plans that utilize electricity attributable to environmentally friendly energy sources like wind or solar.

Opting for a renewable energy plan helps reduce carbon emissions and supports the development of sustainable energy sources, contributing to a cleaner and greener future.

Comparing electricity rates starts with reviewing each plan's Electricity Facts Label (EFL). The EFL shows pricing, contract length, usage tiers and potential fees. Looking at your average monthly usage alongside these details can help you compare plans more accurately and avoid surprises.

Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) delivery charges are fees paid to your local utility. These charges are regulated and apply regardless of which electricity provider you choose, appearing as a separate line on your bill.

The state of Texas allows you to switch electricity providers as often as you like. If you're under a contract, switching early may result in an early termination fee.

We'll let you know when it's time to renew your service before your current plan expires. If no action is taken to enroll in the same plan or choose a new one, you'll be moved to a default month-to-month variable rate plan.
